My first visit to Cape Cod was in August 1966. I was 10. I stayed at the Vista Del Mar motel in North Truro. The motel was owned by an Aunt and Uncle. In 1980 I returned to Provincetown with the woman who would become my wife. Many visits were made over the next 10 years only slowing when kids and a house came along. A few years ago we decided it was time to return. It has been wonderful.
But one “lack of action” annoys the heck out of me. It wasn’t until a visit in 2015 when I finally asked a local about my Aunt and Uncle’s motel. He told me that it had been abandoned for years and torn down in 2014. He provided directions where I could see where it was.
The reason I am annoyed is that I could have seen the place if I only asked earlier. I had many years to do it, but I didn’t.
