Living Planet

Living Planet, Hverarond, Lake Myvatn, Iceland

The Living Planet.
The Earth breathes at Hverarond by Lake Myvatn in Northern Iceland.
The steam has a very strong sulfur smell.
My daughter with her face wrapped in a scarf
to lessen the odor, takes some photographs of the traveling mist.

In Northern Iceland

Iceland, Northern Iceland, Lake Myvatn

On the northern side of Lake Myvatn, which is in northern Iceland, is this small mountain.
Actually it’s more of a hill that overlooks some local residents that farm.
The image was made during sunset, providing a surreal, graphic appearance to the subject.

Lake Myvatn, Iceland

Lake Myvatn, Iceland

Lake Myvatn is in the northern part of Iceland.
Somewhere along the coast of the lake, pictured at the bottom,
scenes from some episode of Game of Thrones where filmed.
While that is a fun fact, the taller mountain visible behind the lake is Hverfjall,
an ancient volcano that erupted approximately 2500 years ago.
Now THAT, is real drama.
